Abraham Lincoln has been a star in recent “Geico” commercials, and now the man who fought to abolish slavery will be honored once again. Lincoln’s Gettysburg address will be recited today at the Los Angeles National Cemetery.
Former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan will recite the speech from noon to 2 p.m., at the 19th annual Abe Lincoln Remembrance at the cemetery.
Students from two local charter schools will be in attendance and their will also be performances by the Backyard Band according to the Los Angeles Times.
His famous speech starts with these words:
“Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth upon this continent a new nation: conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.”
