Motley Crue/Poison/New York Dolls @ Nassau Coliseum
While all three of these acts have been known to dabble in make-up and cross-dressing, what’s really nostalgic about this particular bill is the mud-slinging that’s been going on between Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx and Poison’s Brett Michaels. In the meantime, glam-rock godfathers the New York Dolls get much-needed exposure to a younger music audience and get paid handsomely in the process.

Lucinda Williams/Amos Lee @ Beacon Theatre
This solid pairing of AAA heavyweights also coincides with the duo being out in support of two of 2011’s best albums, Lucinda Williams’ Blessed and Amos Lee’s Mission Bell. While Williams achieved her typically rich-sounding roots-rock brilliance inspired by the bliss of a recent marriage and the tragedy of Vic Chesnutt’s suicide, Lee hooked up with the Mexicali-tinged Calexico, elevating his music beyond its rootsy folk and R&B influences.

Lez Zeppelin @ Stephen Talkhouse
Even though Spin Magazine’s Chuck Klosterman labeled this Led Zeppelin tribute band as “the most powerful all-female band in rock history,” (guess he never heard of Girlschool), the New York City-based quartet has done an admirable job recording huge chunks of the Page/Plant songbook. Last year found Lez Zeppelin returning to the studio to record its second album, a song-by-song recreation of 1969’s Led Zeppelin I.

Queensryche @ Irving Plaza
Driven by singer Geoff Tate’s operatic vocals, prog-metal gods Queensryche has spent recent years revisiting its catalog by performing the albums Rage for Order, Empire and American Soldier in their entirety. With its new album, Dedicated to Chaos, containing what drummer Scott Rockenfield calls “a lot of electronic elements” and “a great dance vibe to it,” it will remain to be scene whether longtime fans will embrace this new direction.
Vines & Canines Vineyard Walk @ Martha Clara Vineyards
Journey @ Rockefeller Plaza
The Flaming Lips, Weezer & Yeasayer
Eccentric Okie psychedelic outfit Flaming Lips bring their theatrical stage show and quirky sense of alt-pop to the Beach where they’ll be joined by a rejuvenated Weezer, whose 2010 output Hurley and Death to False Metal offered fans a taste of River Cuomo’s past and current creative states of mind. Expect Cuomo and company to offer a Greatest Hits-type setlist while Wayne Coyne of the Lips will invariably end up making like a human hamster as he walks across the crowd enclosed in a clear giant plastic ball during his band’s set. FRI 7.29, Nikon at Jones Beach Theater

From broadcasts on the red carpet to being crowned Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice, Joan Rivers is known for her juicy gossip, raspy voice and fast, self-mocking, politically incorrect one-liners.
