The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Trailer Hits Web

A red-band trailer for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has made it to the web.

The highly anticipated film featuring Daniel Craig as the investigative journalist, Mikael Blomkvist, and Rooney Mara, as Lisbeth Salander, is scheduled to be released in December.

It is unclear how the trailer made it the web, especially with all the hype surrounding this movie. The trailer looks as if somebody recorded it with a camcorder in a movie theatre, like a bootleg movie.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the trailer may have been playing in Europe where it was illegally recorded.

What does the trailer show us?  Well, it is high-paced and features no dialogue between characters—just some background music.

Rooney’s character Salander—a troubled computer hacker who is the heroine of Stieg Larsson’s best selling trilogy—is featured in the trailer riding her motorcycle through snowy roads as the trailer cuts from one dramatic clip to the other.

The 1 minute and 40 second trailer doesn’t give much, as they only give us brief clips from certain scenes.

The characters Salander and Blomkvist who meet for the first time about half-way through the book are not featured together in any of the scenes.

For those who haven’t read the book or seen the Swedish versions of the trilogy, the movie still revolves around Blomkvist’s search for Harriet Vanger—who mysteriously disappeared years ago.  With the help of Salander,  Blomkvist uses his tools as a journalist to find out what really happened to Harriet.

Swedish versions of the trilogy—The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire and The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest have already been released.

As for Rooney, her most recent film was The Social Network, where she played Erica Albright.
