Science Fair

The Hicksville Gregory Museum’s (1 Heitz Pl.) annual science fair for first through eleventh grade students will take place at the social hall of St. Stephen’s Church, 270 South Broadway, Hicksville. Students from schools, both public and private, in Hicksville and surrounding districts, are invited to submit their experiments in any aspect of the sciences. Space limitations in past years force the museum to restrict the total number of participants to the first 100 entries. Piolin & Gain Event

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement,” meaning each movement and pose is done on an inhale or exhale. The emphasis will be on movement as well as stretching and holding poses, giving the class a cardio aspect. This can be modified for beginners and people with injuries. LI Youth Orchestra

Presents the final concert of its 49th season with a performance at 3 p.m. at Elwood Middle School, 478 Elwood Rd # 1, East Northport. The orchestra’s founder and director, Martin Dreiwitz of Oyster Bay, as well as principal guest conductor Susan Deaver, associate conductor Scott Dunn will conduct the concert. Featured soloists include flutist Philip Lauto of Hicksville. Tickets at $15 per adult; $5 students and seniors and will be available at the box office one hour prior to the concert. The Eyes of Learning

PAL Youth Heart Health Awareness Day

The NC Police Activity League (NCPAL), Winthrop-University Hospital and CardiacScan Imaging are presenting Youth Heart Health Awareness Day from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Town Of Oyster Bay Hicksville Athletic Center, 167 Broadway, Hicksville. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, the leading cause of sudden cardiac death in people under 30, including athletes. It runs in families and affects over 15,000 people on Long Island. Learn about the risk factors, how screenings can help, and what you need to prevent a family tragedy. Special guest appearance by NY Islander Matt Moulson.

The Sorcerer

The Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of LI will present performances of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Sorcerer on the following dates: 8 p.m. on June 4 at The Landmark Theater, 232 Main St., Port Washington; 3 p.m. on June 12 at Levittown Hall, 201 Levittown Pky., Hicksville; and 8 p.m. on June 25 at Cluett Hall at St. Paul’s, 295 Stewart Ave., Garden City. The production features a cast of 25 performers and the critically acclaimed, 18-piece Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Orchestra. Tickets are priced at $25 adults; $20 students and seniors. Stroke Support Groups

Stroke Life Society is a community organization of survivors and co-survivors in the pursuit of living and helping others. A stroke can be very isolating. •Charles Wagner American Legion Post 421, founded in 1919, meets the first and third Mondays of the month at 8 p.m. at the Hicksville VFW Hall, 320 S. Broadway, Hicksville. • Board of Fire Commissioners regular meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month except in the month of December when the meeting is held on the first Tuesday. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. in the board room of the E. Marie St. Firehouse. Meetings are also held on the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at which time department matters and small details are discussed with the chiefs of the department.

•Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) was founded in 1978, is congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. VVA Chapter #82 is your Nassau County Chapter and meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 8 p.m. at Hicksville’s VFW Hall. •The River Flows Coffee House, an evening of fellowship consisting of conversation, board games, music that rocks. Coffee provided by Starbucks and cake are offered. Presented by The River of Life Church, 15 Marie St., on the second Saturday of each month, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. A free will offering of $7 per adult is allocated to a “Free Lunch Buffet” and other church ministries. •Perceptual Problems Affecting Reading/Learning. Free meetings about a little-known but common perceptual problem which affects the reading and learning capabilities of children and adults are held at Perceptual Change Associates, 120 Bethpage Rd., Hicksville.
