Move over “16 and Pregnant” and “Teen Mom”, a new crop of teen dads are now going to have the spotlight.
The MTV reality series which chronicles the pregnancy, birth and life of being a teenage mom immensely popular in the United States has prompted a spinoff for UK and Ireland television viewers according to STV Entertainment.
The new program will reportedly follow six young dads. So far the only knowledge about the cast are their names and locations. Reece from Liverpool, Karl from Dorset, Dougie from Glasgow, Jon from Kent and Luke from Leeds are the shows new stars according to STV Entertainment.
Each episode will reportedly feature a different father, similar to the way the “16 and Pregnant” episodes run. The fathers were followed and taped over a three-month time period for the show.
There is no word yet about whether the program will air in the United States but a question and answer session “The Dad’s Special” was shot in New York City earlier this month featuring some of “16 and Pregnant” and “Teen Mom’s” most notorious fathers according to MTV’s booking company, On Set Productions. The special was hosted by the usual reunion host of the two shows, Dr. Drew.
OK Magazine reported in earlier this year that “Teen Mom 2” pulled in the highest ratings out of the two teenage mother series averaging 3.6 million viewers. The third season debut of “16 and Pregnant” in April gained over 2.3 million views according to TV By The Numbers.
“Teen Dad” is set to air on MTV UK on July 29.
