Alcott HR Group, (Farmingdale, www.AlcottGroup.com), one of the nation’s leading Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs), continued its tradition as a main corporate sponsor of the Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services 5K Runday.
Now in its 19th year, the event draws hundreds of runners of all ages to help raise funds and awareness for the organization and its comprehensive therapeutic, rehabilitative and supportive services, and housing for people with mental illness, developmental disabilities, psychological difficulties, substance abuse and chemical dependencies. This year, Alcott was joined by M&T Bank (Buffalo, www.mtb.com) as a major sponsor and WBAB Radio (Babylon) as the raffle sponsor.
Over 450 runners participated in this year’s event, which started at Central Nassau and Guidance Counseling Services’ headquarters on South Oyster Bay Road in Hicksville and continued along a 5K course through Hicksville and Bethpage. The event is part of the Long Island Grand Prix series of running events. In addition to the 5K run, there was a Fun Run for children ages 3 to 12 years old. Awards, trophies or certificates were presented to the top finishers in various categories. Free refreshments and commemorative Runday T-shirts were given to all participants.
Among the local dignitaries on hand for the official start of the race were Town of Oyster Bay Legislator Rose Marie Walker and Councilman Anthony Macagnone.
Proving to be a great outdoor running event, the Central Nassau and Guidance Counseling Service event was also a great opportunity to recognize an organization that has been serving the region with clinical treatment, counseling services, residential and day programs, as well as case management, support services and community outreach programs for almost four decades.
