Singer, Fantasia Barrino welcomed a baby this past week.
The former “American Idol” winner welcomed a baby boy named Dallas Xavier Barrino.
According to People Magazine, he was born Tuesday in North Carolina and weighed in at 7 lbs., 9 ox. and measured 21″.
“I feel so blessed that my son Dallas Xavier was born healthy, and is a wonderful new addition to our family,” she told People Magazine. “I thank all my fans for their well wishes and continued support.”
Dallas joins Barrino’s 10-year-old daughter, Zion from a previous relationship.
In August, she officially confirmed the pregnancy. She told a Florida crowd, “God has given me this child and I don’t have to hide it from none of y’all.”
“You are the first person that I share this news with, and I share this with you because I can relate to you,” she reportedly said and went on “And for a while I walked around figuring out ‘What will they say and what will they think about me?’ But now I tell you I don’t live my life for folk.”
Though the father of Dallas has not been revealed, the singer was previously linked to married athlete, Antwaun Cook.
The relationship caused quite the controversy and later played out on Fantasia’s reality show.
His ex-wife later accused Barrino of having a sex tape and breaking up her marriage. Barrino denied the latter, since the man had been legally separated from his wife at the time.
The accusations clearly took an emotional toll on the singer. Barrino, 27, attempted suicide around the same month and admitted to having an abortion after getting pregnant with Cook’s baby.
Though Barrino has surely had a rocky few years, she’s best known for her powerful voice, which was displayed through Season 3 of “American Idol.”
Barrino’s comeback became evident earlier this year when she won a Grammy Award for best female R&B vocal performance and will continue as she introduces her new baby boy to the world.
