Marie Colvin died this past week after a media center she was reporting from in Syria was hit with a rocket.

Just hours before she was killed, she spoke on the horrors of the shelling in Homs in according to The Mirror, what was to be her final dispatch from her three-decade-long career covering world conflicts.

“There has been constant shelling in the city. It’s chaos here,” the Sunday Times reported told CNN’s Anderson Cooper over the phone in her very last report.

During the segment, viewers listened to Colvin describe the horror taking place in Syria as viewers watched footage of little boy dying following an attack.

Colvin said of the conflict, “That little baby is one of two children who died today, one of the children being injured every day.”

Colvin revealed the startling reality, “It’s a complete and utter lie they’re only going after terrorists,” she said before sharing that the Syrian Army is shelling civilians.

Mere hours after the report aired, Colvin died as she and French photographer Remi Ochlick tried to flee as the makeshift press center where the two were working was attacked.

Her death fueled speculation that journalists were targeted by the army to try to stop reports that the government is killing civilians during anti-government uprisings.

“She was murdered,” Colvin’s mother, Rosemarie told the Long Island Press. “I don’t believe you just find a house…she was murdered…whatever it is, she was murdered.”
