States two percent tax cap is most important issue
New Hyde Park/Garden City Park School Board Trustee Frank Miranda has announced that he is running for re-election in the May 15 school board election.
Miranda has lived in the school district for 20 years and has held a position as school board trustee from 2004 to 2007 and from 2011 to 2012.
Miranda feels that the most important issue facing the New Hyde Park School District is the 2 percent tax cap and the unfunded mandates required by the state which makes meeting the budget cap a challenge.
Miranda, who is an information technologist, said he feels he will continue to work with the members of the school board to come up with alternative ways to minimize spending in order to maintain the high standard of education in the district.
Miranda is a graduate of Queensborough Community College with an A.A.S. degree in He and his wife, Lisa, have two daughters, Alexa and Ashley, who are both currently attending New Hyde Park Memorial High School.
He has been a member of the zoning board of appeals of the Village of New Hyde Park, since 1993 and a member of the Dad’s Club since 2007.
The New Hyde Park/Garden City Park school budget and school board trustee election will be held on May 15 from 6 a.m. to 9 p. m. at the New Hyde Park Manor Oaks School, 1950 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park.
