2012 Garden City Pool Applications Now Available
Get a head start on the summer. 2012 Garden City Pool applications have been sent to all residents. Check out the Splash, see all the great events planned, and visit for another summer of fun in the sun at the GC pool. If you did not receive your application, please visit the website at www.gardencityrecreation.org; or the administrative office at 108 Rockaway Ave.
Please note: A swim lesson registration form was inadvertently left out of the mailing. If you need this form, you may download it from our website or visit our office for a copy. You can also make your own by listing your child’s name, address, phone number, birth date, grade he/she will be entering in September and the session and class code for which you are registering with a first and second choice. Mail all information with full payment of $15 for each child with your pool application. A separate $15 check must be enclosed for each child. Please make all checks payable to the “Inc. Village of Garden City.”
In case of inclement weather, the recreation department’s website will be updated to show program cancellations. Please visit the website at www.gardencityrecreation. org, to see if any event is canceled or postponed due to the elements.
Over 35 Mens Softball League Packets Are Now Available
Registration packets are available for joining the Recreation Department’s over 35 Mens Softball League. This league is played on Sunday evenings beginning late May and continuing throughout the summer. Players must be 35 years old or older by the start of the league and residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. To pick up a packet, please visit the office at 108 Rockaway Ave.
Want To Play Some Softball?
If you are a resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City, age 18 or over, who would like to play softball in one of the Recreation Department’s softball leagues, call the Recreation Office at 465-4075 to put your name on our player list. Coaches sometimes call looking for extra players to round out their rosters. Call and leave your name, age, address, and phone number and we will keep your name on file for the team who is looking for extra players.
Spring 2012 Children’s Tennis Lessons
The Garden City Recreation Department’s Tennis Center is pleased to announce the start of registration for its spring program. Spring tennis classes are offered to Garden City residents ages 4 through 11 years old. All classes will begin the week of Monday, April 30, and run for six weeks. The schedule and fees for this year’s youth classes are as follows (all classes are 55 minutes long):

2012 Evening Adult Tennis Lessons
The Garden City Recreation Department will conduct evening tennis lessons for adults who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City at the Community Park Tennis Facility. The lessons will run for one hour each week in three sessions during the spring/summer months. The registrant has a choice of a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday class and a choice of time. There will be a maximum of four players per court. The dates and fees will be as follows:
Session 1: 6 weeks beginning May 7 Cost: $150
Session 2: 4 weeks beginning July 9 Cost: $100
Session 3: 4 weeks beginning Aug. 6 Cost: $100
To register for any session, visit the administrative offices at 108 Rockaway Ave. by April 25. Payment must accompany each registration. Separate checks for each session please.
Registration For Recreation Summer Camps Begins
The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce the start of mail-in registration of its camps for this summer. With more than 20 camps to choose from, our department offers something for every child ages 3 to 14. A full brochure of our offerings and registration forms will be available on the website at www.gardencity recreation.org, in our office at 108 Rockaway Ave., in St. Paul’s Cluett Hall and in the Community Park Tennis Hut.
Please note that “grade” listed refers to the grade the child is entering. The child must be the age listed by the start of the camp and a resident of the Village of Garden City in order to attend. Again, registration will be accepted by mail only.
