Norwich University senior women’s lacrosse player, Kacey Abbriano of Hicksville, was recognized by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference on its weekly awards list April 23.
Abbriano, for the second time this season, was named women’s lacrosse Player of the Week. In leading the Cadets to a 4-0 record from the period of April 16-22, she compiled 16 goals, eight assists and 24 points. She also led the squad with 32 total shots, 27 shots on goal and 22 ground balls. Due to her efforts, the Cadets were able to increase their league win string to 26 and home field victory streak to 16 en route to locking up the top seed in the 2012 GNAC postseason tournament. She increased her multiple-goal game streak to 22 and moved just four goals shy of 200 for her career.
Norwich opened the conference tourney Tuesday, April 24 against eighth-seeded Emmanuel College in one of four quarterfinals.
