Walk With Us – We Need A Bus!
This Saturday, April 28, two Oyster Bay community organizations will be walking with their constituencies, bringing awareness to their missions, and most importantly celebrating wellness. The Life Enrichment Center will be hosting its 7th Annual Community Wellness Walk and the Oyster Bay Cooperative Preschool (OBCP) will once again be joining us. The OBCP plays an important role in the lives of the members of our adult day care program. Once a month, the 3- and 4-year-old students along with the school’s director, Bev Zembko and her assistants, visit our Day Break program bringing joy and positivity to our members.
This year’s event is especially important to the center as all proceeds will help us to purchase a much needed bus. In addition, the lucky winner of our 50/50 raffle will go home with more than $1,000: that was the amount as of April 19. Many thanks to the Oyster Bay Stop & Shop for allowing members Palma Douglass and Sheila Cisco to sell raffle tickets inside their entranceway.
We’d like to thank the following sponsors for their support of the LEC of OB and belief in our mission: Mill-Max Manufacturing and Oyster Bay Manor/Harbor House (Gold Medal Sponsors); Valley National Bank (Champion Sponsor) and the John Specce Agency-State Farm Insurance, James and Heather Madden and Edward C. Mohlenhoff (Marathon Sponsors). The following contributors made generous in-kind donations: Diane Aerne, Café al Dente, Dr. Scott Cavagnuolo, Christina’s Epicure, Cove Fruit, Kenneth K. Dillenbeck, CPA, Gooseberry Grove, Jaco Transportation, L.I. Festival Caterers, Oyster Bay Stop & Shop and Whole Foods Market.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. followed by a pre-walk warm-up and blood pressure check by one of our nurses. Then we’re off to our 1.5 mile walk through Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park and Beach, West Main Street, South Street and back to the LEC. After the walk, everyone is invited to the center for refreshments including, mini-demos from some of our exercise classes, a post-walk blood pressure check and the drawing of our 50/50 raffle. The registration fee is $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12 years and includes a T-shirt and all of the above mentioned activities. In addition, everyone will have a chance to win one of our three door prizes.
For more information, please call the center at 922-1770 and hope to see you there!
