Comings/Goings Gallery Delighting in de Kooning May 12 through June 7

A chance to view abstract paintings inspired by the famous artist Willem de Kooning created this year by local children and teens. All works were inspired by nature and Long Island’s great light during different seasons.  Come see the various techniques used by the artists such as big brush strokes, scratching and layering that created this one-of-a-kind art show. This exhibit was made possible by a generous grant from The Willem de Kooning Foundation. All ages. Free with museum admission. Further, at the Long Island Children’s Museum, from now through May 6, the last chance to celebrate the mystery and intrigue of the Mayan empire in a unique and interesting way in honor of the museum’s visiting exhibit, The Mystery of the Mayan Medallion. All ages. Free with museum admission. All activities will be held at the Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The opening is set for 8 p.m. Annie will also run on Saturday at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, at 3 p.m. at the Herricks Community Center, 999 Herricks Road, New Hyde Park and on the following dates: May 11,12, 18, 19 at 8 p.m. and May 20 at 3 p.m. (matinee). Admission: Adults:  $23. Seniors and children (under 12):  $18  Special rates for 10 or more are available. Hillside Library Board Of Trustees Budget And Regular Meeting

The Hillside Public Library’s board of trustees will meet at 7:30 p.m. at 155 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park. There will be a budget hearing at 7 p.m. on the same evening.

Classical Concert At Long Island Conservatory

Enjoy an afternoon of classical music when the Long Island Conservatory presents a concert performed by the chorus/opera workshop at 2 p.m. The concert will feature Mozart “Requiem in D minor 626 K”: A. Copeland “Zion’s Walls,” “At the River Ching a Ring Chaw,” and Leigh: medley from Man of La Mancha. Church Of The Resurrection To Hold Penny Social

The Church of the Resurrection, 147 Campbell Avenue at Center Street, Williston Park, will hold a penny social fundraiser with 25 percent of the proceeds going to Ronald McDonald House, New Hyde Park and 75 percent of proceeds going to parish ministries. Doors to open at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 which includes 25 tickets and coffee and cake. Antique And Collectibles Auction At First Presbyterian Church

The First Presbyterian Church, 16 South 9th Street, New Hyde Park (south of Jericho Turnpike) will hold an antique and collectibles auction. Viewing is at 5 p.m. followed by the auction at 6 p.m. The auction will include artwork, glass items, jewelry, furniture, books, crocheted pieces, linens, beer collectibles, dishes, games and more. Doe Club Of New Hyde Park To Hold Chinese Auction

The Doe Club of New Hyde Park will hold its annual Chinese auction at 7 p.m. at the New Hyde Park Elks Club, 901 Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Donation is $25 and includes auction tickets and dinner from “soup to fortune cookies.”  Portion of the proceeds will benefit cerebral palsy. New Hyde Park To Hold Annual Memorial Day Parade

New Hyde Park Village, in conjunction with the VFW and The American Legion, will hold its annual Memorial Day parade stepping off from Hillside Boulevard at 10 a.m. There will be a stop at village hall, corner of New Hyde Park Road and Jericho Turnpike, to place a wreath at the rock, the site of all the names of New Hyde Park residents who perished at war. The parade will then head north on New Hyde Park Road to Memorial Park on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Wilton Avenue where there will also be a wreath laying and speeches on the meaning of Memorial Day, usually delivered by New Hyde Park Village Mayor Daniel Petruccio. The parade will then disband and refreshments will be served back at Marcus Christ Hall, on the grounds of village hall.

Michael Amante To Perform At NYCB Westbury Theatre
