OBHS Winter Reception

The Oyster Bay Historical Society hosts the opening of their new exhibit at the Koenig Center, 20 Summit Street, with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 31. Refreshments served. “Snow Day In Oyster Bay” will display items from their collection related to winter. That includes bobsleds, skates and costumes on loan from Monica Randall. ‘A Dream Sunday’

“A Dream Sunday” service with Bishop Martin D. McLee, resident bishop of the United Methodist Church, will take place on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. at Community Methodist Church, 1300 Jericho/Oyster Bay Road, East Norwich. Movie at Bayville Library

The Bayville Public Library will be showing the film Lee Daniels’ The Butler on Monday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. The library is located at 34 School Street in Bayville. There is no charge and refreshments are served. Contributions are accepted.

Story Time at the Bayville Library

Every Tuesday through Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m.: 2-year-old Bookworms; Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m.: 3-year-old Bookworms. Join Ms. Stacy to read stories, sing songs, and create a craft.

Concert For Women And Girls

The Jewish Women’s Circle of Oyster Bay & Jericho presents an evening of Song Joy and Inspiration, a beautiful musical performance by singer/songwriter, Rivka Leah Cylich and celebrated vocalist, Chaya Sara Weiss. Mrs. Brocha Lipszyc, Rebbetzin of Chabad of Woodbury, will give a talk on “the transformational quality of inner joy for each woman and her home.” Elegant desserts and sushi will be served. Valentine Fair Starts

The Oyster Bay-East Norwich Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for the second annual Valentine’s Fair in Oyster Bay on Feb. 8 and 9. As the place where the first documented Valentine’s Day card was sent, it is a natural. Merchants are being contacted to sign up for events to capture the imagination of shoppers. Xiomáro Photographic Talk

The Oyster Bay Historical Society at 20 Summit Street, presents an Artist Talk by Xiomáro on Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. as they celebrate Black History Month. Xiomáro’s photographic series devoted to the slaves’ burial ground at the William Floyd Estate is on exhibition in New York City this February. Xiomáro’s 2013 exhibition How I Love Sagamore Hill opened at the OBHS Koenig Center before traveling to Harvard University in 2014. On view for the talk will be two framed photographs from the series. Attendees will be eligible for an email raffle of two signed 5 x 7 inch prints of images from the exhibit. The program in the Angela Koenig Center is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Donations to the Mohlenhoff Fund will help support the OBHS’s ongoing schedule of educational events and exhibitions. For information, please call 516-922-5032.

Under the direction of Kathleen Blixt, the ensemble of 20 professional and highly skilled singers will present unaccompanied choral music at Christ Church on Feb. 9 at 3 p.m. The tickets are $15 in pre-sale by Feb. 2. Valentine Evening Gala

Come celebrate Valentine’s Evening at the Raynham Hall Museum honoring Patricia P. Sands and the Oyster Bay Main Street Association, Feb. 14 from 6:30 to 11:30 p.m. Dinner, music and auctions for a fee: basic tickets are $250; $200 for junior members, 35 and under. The 84th Annual Installation of Officers & Directors to the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Chamber of Commerce takes place on Feb. 27 with time and location to be announced. Food Pantry

The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St, Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community. It is open on Tuesdays during their prayer times: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. If you are in need of their service, please call Pastor Diane at 516-922-2547 and make an appointment to complete their screening process.
