HEARTS PW, a nonprofit organization that stands for Helping Enrich the Arts in Port Washington’s schools, had a successful fund raiser and winter party at Diwan restaurant. Special guests and honorees were the 17 grant recipients that will receive over $30,000 for arts programming in connection with the schools.
Diwan was filled to capacity with party goers decked out in red to symbolize the passion and love for arts. A buffet laden with Indian delicacies was served up. The most popular spot at the party was around The Candy Bar, where huge vats of candy and scoops were available, along with cellophane bags for take away treats. The wine and champagne flowed at the open bar and the air was filled with the sounds of hot jazz by local Jazz Duo Adam Tuch and Noah Milstein and sponsors Bach To Rock’s Pro Jazz Ensemble.
President Michelle Posner Goldman welcomed the packed crowd and introduced children’s book author Beth Ain, who read an original piece on the importance of art in our lives. Founder Damon Gersh also addressed the crowd and announced the fundraising goals for PortFest, HEARTS’s annual
major fundraiser and community festival for the arts. PortFest, will take place on May 17, from 11 a.m.
to 5 p.m., at Schreiber High School, rain or shine. There will be live professional and student bands, school sponsored interactive art experiences, art exhibits, silent auctions, and concession stands, all while raising funds for arts enrichment in Port Washington.
