Dina Lohan, mother of troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, will avoid jail time after admitting Tuesday that she was driving drunk when New York State Troopers puller her over for speeding on the Northern State Parkway last summer.
The 51-year-old Merrick woman pleaded guilty at Nassau County court to driving while intoxicated and speeding. Police had said her blood alcohol content was more than double the legal limit of 0.08 percent at the time of her September 2013 arrest.
Judge Andrew Engel is expected to sentence Lohan on June 3 to 100 hours of community service, revoke her driver’s license for a year and require her participation in a Drinking Driver Program and Victims Impact Panel, according to the Nassau County District Attorney’s office
She’s also expected to be fined $2,600, plus a $483 surcharge in addition to having an ignition interlock device installed on her vehicle for one year, prosecutors added.
The plea comes as her daughter’s self-titled docu-series on OWN, Oprah Winfrey’s new network, revealed that the actress is still struggling with substance abuse despite repeated run-ins with the law and court-mandated stints in rehab. Dina had reportedly been on her way home from an interview with Oprah when she was arrested.
Police had said that she “recanted” an allegation that she was injured at the time of her arrest, which came shortly before the Press first reported that her house was in foreclosure again.
