An East Northport man was arrested Wednesday for an alleged hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a woman in Greenlawn six months ago, Suffolk County police said.
Alvaro Alfaro was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury, driving without a license and circumventing an interlock device that was mandated following a prior drunken-driving case.
Police said the 26-year-old suspect was driving a Ford Explorer southbound on Park Avenue when his SUV struck a Dodge Neon at the corner of Lantern Street at 12:30 a.m. Oct. 13, 2013.
The Brentwood woman driving the Neon was seriously injured and her passenger suffered minor injuries.
Alfaro fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a puppy, which was turned over to the Town of Huntington Animal Shelter.
Alfaro will be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
