A Glen Cove man has been accused of pushing a New York State Trooper who was arresting the suspect for an alleged hit-and-run crash on the Northern State Parkway on Wednesday evening.
Shawn Bellamy was driving a BMW when his vehicle struck a GMC near New Hyde Park Road and fled the shortly after 6 p.m., police said.
Troopers tracked Bellamy to a residence on Byrd Street in Glen Cove, where he “became combative and pushed the trooper before being taken into custody,” police said.
Bellamy was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, driving without a license, leaving the scene of an accident and other traffic violations.
He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead.
