Plainview runners Steven Weiss, Stacianne Lester, Shari Klarfeld, Rich Diamond and Barry Jerson each won awards at the 23rd annual David Lerner Associates Long Island Police Appreciation 5 Kilometer Run, which was held at Eisenhower Park on June 5.
Weiss took second place honors in the Open Law Enforcement Division, Lester took home the third place award in the women’s 20-24 age group, Klarfeld took home the second place award in the women’s 30-34 age group, Diamond scored second in the 35-39 age group, and Jerson was the second place finisher in the 65-69 age group.
The run was conducted by the Greater Long Island Running Club, under the sponsorship of David Lerner Associates, who donated more than $300,000 over the years to law enforcement officers and their families in time of personal emergency. A big contingent from David Lerner Associates was on hand at the run, to complement big teams from the Nassau Police Running Club and the NYPD Running Club.
