An Amityville man has admitted to beating his girlfriend’s 4-year-old godson to death because the toddler would not go to sleep last year.
Jonathan Thompson pleaded guilty Thursday at Suffolk County court to second-degree murder.
Prosecutors said the 32-year-old man was babysitting the child, Adonis Reed, for his girlfriend when he repeatedly struck the victim, causing a lacerated liver, bruises and contusions to the heart, pancreas, lungs and other organs in January 2013.
Judge Barbara Kahn agreed to sentence Thompson to 15 years to life in prison on Nov. 17 in exchange for his plea.
