Hicksville High School’s fall production, The Curious Savage, a comedy by John Patrick, will be presented on Nov. 20, 21 and 22, at 7 p.m.
The show is directed by high school theatre and English teacher Caitlin Cassidy and produced by Special Arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.
The play is set in a sanatorium in Massachusetts and highlights themes of kindness, affection and their importance in the world. The significance of these universal virtues is echoed through the overt displays of greed and dishonesty.
The protagonist of The Curious Savage is the kind-hearted Mrs. Savage, who has been left $10 million in the wake of her husband’s demise. While Savage seeks to make use of these funds by helping others realize their dreams and hopes, she is met with considerable resistance from her grown-up stepchildren, who will do just about anything to get their hands on the large sum of money.
Gabrielle Goubran, who stars as Mrs. Savage, leads a cast comprised of several students who are members of the International Thespian Honor Society Troupe 2125.
Tickets are $8 and can be purchased in the high school’s main lobby from 9:57 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. from Nov. 19-21, and also at the door prior to each performance.
