The Auction For Excellence

Bridge_10915AThe Sid Jacobson JCC of East Hills has established a brand-new committee for its 20th Annual Auction for Excellence, An Epicurean Event-the Children’s Auction Committee. The group, made up of school-aged children, was founded by 10-year-old Adam Liebowitz of East Hills.

“I wanted to get more children interested and teach them how important charity work is,” Liebowitz said. “If we could get kids to come to the meeting, we could get them more involved. I wanted it to grow so a lot of people would learn how they could help out and work to reach our goal.”

Bridge_10915DLiebowitz is no stranger to leadership. In the last two years, he spearheaded toy donation campaigns for the Auction for Excellence, An Epicurean Event, bringing in over $4,000 in donations and hundreds of toys to be auctioned off at the event. This year, he leads a committee of over 20 children from the community to fundraise for the event. So far, the committee has held a pizza and brainstorming session and a bake sale fundraiser at Lester’s of Greenvale.
