A Mastic woman was arrested for allegedly driving drunk after she was involved in a three-car crash that killed a 35-year-old man in Brookhaven early Sunday morning, Suffolk County police said.
Orlando Heinecker of Bellport was driving a Suburban eastbound on Montauk Highway when he lost control and struck two westbound vehicles–a Jeep driven by Kimberly Michiels and a Ford Focus, driven by Sarah Skidmore at 1:19 a.m., police said.
Heinecker, who was ejected from the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Michiels, 35, was treated for minor injuries at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue. Her passenger, 42-year-old Andrea Smith of East Setauket, and Skidmore, 29, of Mastic Beach, were both treated at the same hospital and released.
Michiels was charged with driving while intoxicated. She will be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
Vehicular Crime Unit detectives impounded the three vehicles, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who may have witnessed this crash to call them at 631-852-6555.
