The Art Guild continues its year-long theme of “home” in planning their photography exhibit “Real [Surreal] Estate, Images of Home,” a Juried Competition and Exhibition. The open call show will feature a wide range of photographic styles and interpretations of “home” from photographers across the island.
The exhibit will be on view at The Art Guild’s home, Elderfields Preserve, 200 Port Washington Blvd. in Manhasset, from Saturday, Jan. 31, through Sunday, March 1. Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 1 – 5 p.m. or by appointment. An Artists’ Reception and Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday, Feb. 1 from 3-5 p.m.
All photographers, 18 years and older (high school students ages 14-18 years may enter in the student category), are invited to submit up to three photographic works for consideration. The deadline for submissions is midnight Jan. 9. For more information, registration form, or to register on line, please visit The Art Guild’s website at www.theartguild.org.
The juror for the show is Marc Josloff. President of the Long Island Center of Photography. Josloff has BA and Master’s degrees from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY. He is a photographer and a painter and brings a unique fine art perspective to his photography. His photographs have been widely exhibited and he has won awards in best in show, best in color and best in black and white in numerous juried exhibitions. As a painter, he was cited as one of “11 Artists to Watch,” in the 2004 edition of Watercolor Magic magazine.
There is much in the works for 2015. The Guild has announced the resumption of classes for children and adults as well as two-day workshops in colored pencil and pastel. An exhibit featuring landscapes, “Home on The Range,” is being planned for March.
