A bicyclist shot and killed a 32-year-old man while the victim was sitting in a car parked outside of his house in Wyandanch on Saturday evening, Suffolk County police said.
Vernon Brown was sitting in the passenger seat of a car with a friend in front of his South 31st Street home when a gunman on a bike rode up to the car, fired one shot that hit Brown and fled the scene shortly before 6 p.m., police said.
The friend drove Brown to a nearby house on Levey Boulevard, where another friend called 911. The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.
Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on the shooting to call them at 631-852-6394 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
