John Starck and Michael Rosenberg

Michael Rosenberg of Showcase Kitchens South in Massapequa and John Starck of Showcase Kitchens of Manhasset have combined forces to create a dream kitchen for a lucky Amityville couple in an upcoming episode of the hit show “George to the Rescue.” The episode will air on NBC on April 11 at 9:30 a.m. and again at 7 p.m.

The Emmy Award-winning reality show “George to the Rescue” is a weekly home improvement show starring George Oliphant. The contractor/designer and his production team search the country for deserving people—many of whom were in the military, are suffering from illnesses or have survived a catastrophic occurrence—and makeover their home. For this chosen couple it was all of the above.

In December 2014, Starck was approached to head the Amityville couple’s kitchen renovation. In addition to the husband being a war veteran, the wife had been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, which has, unfortunately, spread. The couple were also victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Together, Starck and Rosenberg completely redesigned the couple’s new cabinetry and mobilized the necessary donations to make the family’s kitchen functional.  Major appliances were donated by Smeg USA, FMI Marble of Valley Stream supplied the countertop, Baseline Logistics of Deer Park handled the shipping and Aztec Construction installed the elements.

The homeowners were emotional and very thankful to have been chosen for this experience, and for their brand new dream kitchen.
