Nationally acclaimed speaker and children’s anti-bullying author Trudy Ludwig, will be honored by Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) at its 30th annual spring luncheon. President/CEO of The EGC Group, Ernie Canadeo, will also be honored at the luncheon on Thursday, April 16 at The Carltun in East Meadow. Ludwig is scheduled to speak at the benefit event.
Founded in 1982, CAPS is Long Island’s leading resource on the prevention of bullying, child abuse and neglect and provider of no cost youth violence prevention and child safety education to students in Nassau and Suffolk county K-12 schools. Its new division, the CAPS Bully Prevention Center, offers parents of bullied children direct support, guidance and solutions.
“CAPS is privileged to present the CAPS Community Leadership Award to Trudy Ludwig who has helped raise the profile of the prevention of bullying through her children’s books and public speaking across the country,” said Alane Fagin, Executive Director. “We applaud her for her efforts to create awareness around these issues.”
Ludwig is an award-winning author who specializes in writing children’s books that explore the colorful and sometimes confusing world of children’s social interactions. She has received rave reviews nationwide from educators, experts, organizations and parents for her passion and compassion in addressing relational aggression. Her first book, My Secret Bully, was written after her own daughter was bullied by friends. Since then, Ludwig has become a sought-after speaker, presenting at schools and conferences around the country and educating students, parents and teachers on the topic.
In addition, Canadeo, will receive CAPS’ Corporate Citizen Award for his leadership role in the Long Island non-profit and business community.
