The spring sports season is heading into the home stretch and both the Roslyn High School boys’ tennis team and the girls’ softball squad have continued their winning ways.

After losing to archrival Jericho in a May 18 match, the Bulldogs have roared back to another winning streak. On April 24, Roslyn avenged that earlier defeat with a 6-1 win over Jericho. The doubles team of Eric Irom and Jeremy Kaplan, plus a singles win by Justin Lempert, keyed that convincing win. A day later, on April 25, the Bulldogs scored another 6-1 win, this one over Garden City. The doubles team Justin Princer and Jake Gans scored the big win in this match. As of press time, Roslyn is riding high, at 5-1 in Conference I-B ball. Upcoming games include a Wednesday, April 29, 4:15 p.m. home contest against Friends Academy; a Monday, May 4, 4:30 p.m. road match at Syosset; a Wednesday, May 6, 4:30 home match against Manhasset; and the regular season finale, a Friday, May 8, 4:30 road match against Jericho. It promises to be an exciting finish to what has been an excellent season so far.

Meanwhile, the girls’ softball team upped their record to 8-3 with a solid 6-3 win over Carle Place. Julia Epprecht was the hitting star in the game, driving in two runs on two hits. Nicole Lang was the winning pitcher. Earlier, both Epprecht and Lang starred in a close 4-3 win over Valley Stream South. Lang again was the winning pitcher, plus she drove home Epprecht with the winning run in the sixth inning. This coming week, the Lady Bulldogs will play a Thursday, May 30, 4:30 p.m. home game against Sewanhaka, followed by a Tuesday, May 5, 4:30 p.m. road game against Valley Stream North. The regular season finale comes with a Thursday, May 7, 4:30 p.m. home game against West Hempstead. Roslyn has excelled in all facets of the game this year and is moving into the final stretch of the season with great confidence and momentum.
