A 66-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car while crossing a street in her hometown of Bay Shore on Tuesday night.
Suffolk County police said Ishwer Wadhwa was crossing 5th Avenue when she was hit by a southbound Nissan Maxima at 8:47 p.m.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, 32-year-old Jerson Ventura of Wyandanch, drove to the Third Precinct to report the crash, police said.
Vehicular Crime Unit detectives impounded the vehicle, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information on the crash to call them at 631-852-6555.
