An unidentified man was struck and killed while walking across a street in Central Islip over the weekend.
Suffolk County police said the pedestrian was crossing Route 111 north of Olive Street when he was hit by a northbound Acura MDX at 10:10 p.m. Sunday.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead.
He is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 30 years old, 5-feet, 1-inch tall and between 165 and 170 pounds.
The 39-year-old Brentwood man who was driving the SUV was not injured.
Third Squad detectives impounded the vehicle for a safety inspection, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about this crash to call them at 631-854-8352.
