A 5-year-old girl fatally drowned in a backyard pool in Islip over the weekend, Suffolk County police said.
Third Precinct officers responded to a 911 call reporting a child being found unresponsive in a pool at a Columbine Avenue home at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.
The child, Carissa Walker, was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. where she was pronounced dead.
Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.
