The Great Neck Water Pollution Control District (GNWPCD) recently approved several new commercial and residential property connections to the district’s sewer collection system. The approvals come as a result of additional collection system capacity created by the recent plant upgrades.
“Property owners may request a connection irrespective of whether or not the property is located in the district,” said Commissioner Steve Reiter. “However, connections are more economically feasible if the property is located in a reasonable proximity to an existing collection system sewer line.”
Residents and businesses interested in connecting to the district system are encouraged to submit a written request to GNWPCD, headquarters at 236 East Shore Rd., Great Neck, NY 11023. Properties outside the GNWPCD boundary will be required to pay a capital equalization fee. The fee can be paid in a lump sum or as a variable annual fee, based on the properties’ assessed valuation and the district’s tax rate.
“The district carefully considers the viability of each property seeking a connection approval,” said District Commissioner Jerry Landsberg. “Additional approved connections will not impact service for existing property owners in any way.”
