OurHarvest is an online food market which allows shoppers to place orders on its website. Then the order is brought to a central community location to be picked up. Cofounders and longtime friends Scott Reich and Michael Winik choose OurHarvest’s suppliers and farms. OurHarvest has only been active for a little over a year now, but already has more than 60 suppliers and 200 products. You can access the full list at www.ourharvest.com.
There are several drop-off locations around Long Island and OurHarvest drops off twice a week in Port Washington at St. Peter of Alcantara.
“We think our pricing is very affordable for what the product is,” said Reich. “Everything is hormone- and antibiotic-free. The level of freshness is the best because we cut the middleman; we have relationships directly with the farms.”
OurHarvest also combats hunger by donating a meal to a local food pantry whenever someone places an order over $25. In Port Washington, OurHarvest donates to both St. Peter’s Alcantara and Our Lady of Fatima parishes. “We are really lucky to be able to strongly support every neighborhood we serve across Long Island and New York City,” said Winik. “We are especially grateful to the members of the Port Washington community who have been loyal OurHarvest supporters since our launch.”
