The Port Washington Public Library is presenting a five-part series on the Ethnic Builders of New York City beginning on Friday, Sept. 11, at 3 p.m. This series will highlight the contributions of the Dutch, Italians, Irish, Germans and Jews to the city.

The series dates are:

  • Sept. 11: The Dutch
  • Oct. 9: The Italians
  • Nov. 13: The Irish
  • Dec. 11: The Germans
  • Jan. 8, 2016: The Jews

These lectures will be presented by New York City historian, professor of history at Touro College, faculty adjunct in world religions at the Unification Theological Seminary and featured speaker at the N.Y. Council for the Humanities, Dr. Ronald J. Brown. “I feel that this series will appeal to a broad spectrum of these and other ethnic groups who reside in Port Washington,” said Dr. Brown.
