A brand new boatel will be opening soon in Port Washington and it needs a name. The final touches are being put on the boatel located at the Knickerbocker Bay Club at 433 Main St. The Knickerbocker Bay Club, along with the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce and the Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington, are holding a “name the boatel contest.” The winning entry will receive $500, an all-inclusive two-night stay at the boatel and a gift certificate for dinner for two at La Parma or Louie’s in Port Washington. The deadline to submit an entry is Sept. 30.

Anne Arter, sales manager for the Knickerbocker Bay Club and real estate broker with Daniel Gale in Port Washington, said, “A boatel is like a hotel, but located on the waterfront and accessible by boat as well as car.” Arter has been a broker since 1990 and a top producer in Port Washington and Manhasset since she joined Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty in 1995. Arter is a longtime resident of the area and an active member of the community, as well as a director and vice president of the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce. “The boatel will have six waterfront rooms on the first floor of the Knickerbocker Bay Club,” said Arter. “The boatel has a separate entrance from the condo entrance. The Knickerbocker Bay Club has boat slips and a dock so you can pull up on your boat. But you don’t have to have a boat to stay at the boatel.”

The Knickerbocker Bay Club is a unique, brand new, waterfront condo community for adults age 62 and over. Condos range in price from $600,000 to $3 million. The Knickerbocker Bay Club has 32 residences. “It’s 50 percent sold,” said Arter. “I tell perspective buyers that they’re buying the view and we’re throwing in the condo.” The condos have a magnificent view of Manhasset Bay. All the condos are two or three bedrooms. All have decks and at least two bathrooms. There’s also a rooftop deck with a putting green. “Manhasset Bay Yacht Club, which is right next door, has waived it’s new-member fee for Knickerbocker residents,” said Arter.
