An Islip teenager was killed while inspecting damage to his car caused by a hit-and-run driver in Brentwood on Tuesday morning.
Suffolk County police said 17-year-old Anil John pulled his Hyundai Sonata to the side of Crooked Hill Road near Suffolk County Community College after being involved in a minor crash when he was struck by a southbound Ford at 9:30 a.m.
John was pronounced dead at the scene. The 81-year-old driver who hit him was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for observation. The first driver that hit John’s car fled the scene.
Third Squad detectives impounded the two vehicles, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information about either of the crashes involved to call them at 631-854-8352.
