October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and there is no better way to raise money for charity than to involve your friends and family. That’s why some Port residents are selling pink lemonade in October and on Halloween. All proceeds will benefit the Young Survival Coalition (YSC), the only international, nonprofit network of breast cancer survivors and supporters dedicated to the issues that are unique to young women and breast cancer.
Port residents are taking a stand against cancer, a lemonade stand. Please support these stands:
• Oct. 24, Manhasset Bay Estates, corner of Luquer Road and Leeds Drive, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• Oct. 31, Beacon Hill, 41 Summit Rd., from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
• Oct. 31, Soundview, 25 Driftwood Dr., from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
• Oct. 31, Port Washington Estates, 73 Ivy Way, from 12 to 6 p.m.
• Oct. 31, Manhasset Bay Estates, corner of Pine Street and Mackey Avenue, from 4 to 7 p.m.
This is the 12th annual pink lemonade fundraiser held in the area. The event was inspired by one young woman’s battle against breast cancer, who was diagnosed at age 36 after the birth of her daughter. Since 2004, they have raised more than $68,000 in pink lemonade stands throughout Long Island, New York City, Westchester, Connecticut and many states across the U.S.
