North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Councilwoman Viviana Russell announced that the town will be offering a Futsal program for children at the “Yes We Can” Community Center this winter. Futsal is a 5-on-5 indoor soccer game played on a hardwood surface. The weekly co-ed futsal clinic is being offered for up to 20 children ages 8 to 11 years old and will last from December 2015 to March 2016.
The program is free and each player must be a town resident and member of the “Yes We Can” Community Center. If you are interested in signing up, email Brown@samba360.org with your child’s name, age and telephone number by Dec. 7. If more than 20 players sign up, players will be selected through a lottery during the first week of December.
The program is co-sponsored by Samba 360, a local community organization whose mission is to provide relief to disadvantaged children, both domestically and abroad, through the collection of donated sporting and other recreational equipment.
