St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church commissioned three new Eucharistic Ministers. Matt Bendix, Diana Bandfield VonRoeschlaub and Rachel Golder are longtime parishioners who have been active in many aspects of parish life and outreach ministries. Priest-in-Charge Father Gary Parker said, “We’re delighted to have these three dedicated members of our parish family as new Eucharistic Ministers. As we continue to grow, their commitment and willingness to serve is a blessing to St. Stephen’s and the community.”
Bendix has been a parishioner at St. Stephen’s for 14 years. He was a church school teacher and subsequently served on the vestry for a three-year term before becoming junior warden. Bendix was warden for two years and is currently serving another one-year term on the vestry. He has volunteered at the fair for many years in the trash and treasure department with his wife, Josie Bishop, and then in the children’s carnival, before moving up to lead the fair organization for the past three years. He also volunteers his time at the church for buildings and grounds activities.
Bendix has an engineering consulting firm based in Port Washington. Bandfield VonRoeschlaub is a longtime family member of St. Stephen’s. She became involved in leading the youth group, and shortly after, married her husband, Kurt, the son of the then rector. She has been a volunteer at the annual fair, auction of promises, youth group and children’s outings, as well as promoting St. Stephen’s through various community organizations. Her positive experiences in these activities prompted her to join the vestry and to join her husband in the Eucharistic Ministry. The couple have three children. VonRoeschlaub is involved in many local groups, particularly Pride in Port, the Christmas tree lighting committee, Red Stocking Revue, various theater groups, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, to name a few.
Golder is an 18-year member of St. Stephen’s with her husband and three teenage children. She was a Sunday school teacher when her children were young and has been a member of the choir for eight years. She served on the vestry for four years, leading the stewardship effort. She is also an active participant in many of the church’s community activities, including the fall fair, and helps to make the Miracle of Christmas Orchestra happen. When she is not working for the parish, Golder is a manager of bond portfolios for Goldman Sachs.
St. Stephen’s Church is celebrating 110 years as a parish this year. It is located on Main Street across from the library.
