The Town of North Hempstead will be hosting the Winter Wonderland Train and Light Show from Dec. 12 to 23 inside the historic Clark House at Clark Botanic Garden. The event, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, is being sponsored by the Albertson Branch of the Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
Residents are invited to visit the Clark House to enjoy the 12-day celebration, which will feature a holiday train show with a steam locomotive donated by Willis Hobbies. Visitors will be offered free hot chocolate and an opportunity to make holiday crafts. In addition, there will be holiday lights in the garden and the ability to take photos with life-sized cutouts of toy soldiers and characters from the Disney movie Frozen.
There will also be readings of Chris Van Allsburg’s book, The Polar Express on select days. Call 311 or check the town’s website at www.northhempsteadny.gov for a full schedule of readings.
“This year’s Winter Wonderland will feature some old favorites, like the train set, and some new activities, as well,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “It’s a great opportunity to enjoy some hot chocolate, story-telling and holiday magic all amid the beautiful natural setting of Clark Botanic Garden.”
The event is free of charge to residents. Clark Botanic Garden is located at 193 I.U. Willets Road in Albertson. For more information, please call 311 or visit www.northhempsteadny.gov.
