Residents came out in droves to shop and stroll on Main Street and Port Boulevard at the annual Port Holiday Magic event in town. Held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, the event was sponsored and organized by the Greater Port Washington Business Improvement District (BID), Port Washington Chamber of Commerce and Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington. The Peter & Jeri Dejana Family Foundation and The Town of North Hempstead were additional sponsors.

More than 60 stores and restaurants offered “shoppertainment,” including holiday treats, in-store entertainment, refreshments, discounts and holiday specials. Outdoor entertainment included Santa and his elves, carolers from Shining Studios, costumed characters including Olaf, a minion, Ninja Turtle Raphael, Darth Vader, two stages and more. Shoppers could take a free trolley ride from one end of Main Street to the other, with stops all along the way.

“The spirit of the holiday season has never shined so brightly as during Port Holiday Magic,” said Bobbie Polay, executive director of the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce. “It was incredibly heartwarming to see hundreds of residents come to Main Street to show their support for our merchants. We thank all the participating merchants who went all out this year in offering specials, giveaways, refreshments and shoppertainment. Port Washington is truly a magical place to be during the holidays and all year.”
