Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas, specializing in small plates that put modern twists on Italian classics and fine wines from around the world, is currently offering its Feast of the Seven Fishes menu until Dec. 24. Traditionally enjoyed on Christmas Eve, Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas will celebrate this Italian-American holiday tradition in the days leading up to Christmas. The menu, developed by Executive Chef Ryan Keough, includes complementary wine pairings for each course.
The Feast of the Seven Fishes tasting menu is $45, $65 including wine pairings (dishes are also available a la carte). A few of its menu items include:
· Squid Ink alla Spaghetti: Bay scallops, onion, garlic, celery, cherry tomatoes (paired with Gavi, San Matteo – an intense nose of white flowers, pear, mineral notes and green almond)
· Seared Sea Bream: Salmoriglio sauce (paired with Ribolla Gialla, Sut – aromas of citrus fruits complement undertones of candied orange and lychee fruit; on the palate, crisp acidity and good minerality)
· Grilled Salmon: Cauliflower purée and fig-mustard glaze (paired with Teroldego, Lechthaler – intense ruby red with a bright nose; smooth texture with notes of cherries, black raspberry, earth and a touch of spice)
· Caccioucco alla Livornese: Octopus, mussel, sea bream, shrimp, red wine tomato broth (paired with Chianti Classico, Melini ‘Terrarosa’ – exceptional structure and notable composition)
