Town of Oyster Bay residents are now able to enjoy outdoor ice skating at the Marjorie R. Post (Massapequa) and Syosset-Woodbury Community Park ice rinks for the 2015-16 season, according to Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto.
“Once again, town residents can enjoy this popular winter sport at prices that make it a great value for your recreation dollar,” said Venditto.
General admission for Oyster Bay town residents for two-hour public skating sessions at both rinks will be $2 for ages 2 to 4, $4 for ages 5 through 17, $5 for ages 18 and older, $2 for senior citizens 60 and older and $3 for town veterans, volunteer firefighters and auxiliary police with identification. For non-town residents, the general admission will be $3 for ages 2 to 4, $7 for ages 5 to 17, $8 for ages 18 and older, $4 for seniors and $3 for veterans, volunteer firefighters and auxiliary police with identification. Both Oyster Bay town resident and non-resident children under 2 will be admitted free.
Special discount books consisting of 10 tickets will also be available. A discount book for ages 5 to 17 years will be $30 for residents and $55 for non-residents. A book for ages 18 and older will be $35 for residents and $65 for non-residents. In addition, ice rinks may be rented by resident groups for $225 per hour. Non-resident groups can rent the rinks for $325 per hour. Charters will be available when public sessions are not scheduled. Requests for group charters can be scheduled by calling the Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center at 516-433-7465, ext. 8231.
“Skating provides residents with an enjoyable winter activity in addition to a healthy work out,” said Venditto. “People of all ages and ability levels are guaranteed to have an enjoyable time at the rinks.”
Venditto noted that the skate shop will be open during all public sessions for renting skates at $4 per pair, per session. Discount books for skate rentals will be available for $35. Schedules for the Outdoor Rinks will be available at the outdoor rinks themselves, online at www.oysterbaytown.com and in the Parks Department at Town Hall South (977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa).
