On Monday, Nov. 23, members of the Manhasset High School faculty, parents and students gathered for the induction ceremony to the National History Honor Society. The opening presentation of colors was given by the Manhasset Post 304 American Legion and was followed by the singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by Maddie Conner. After an introduction by Stephen Gilroy, honor society advisor, and a greeting by Dr. Dean Schlanger, 68 new members were inducted.

The ceremony was capped off by the presentation of the Dr. David Dorman Essay Contest winner, Alexandra Bowman. Afterwards, the 2015 honorary inductee, Robert Rule, gave the keynote address and was presented with an American flag that flew over the school. Jenna Tischler was presented with the Community Service Award and a donation to Tuesday’s Children was made in her name.

Gilroy and President Jason Fiacco outlined the goals of the society. The evening was concluded with the closing remarks by Mara Steindam.
