Drive down Port Washington Boulevard in December and you can see a house on Sunnyvale Road decorated with Christmas lights that are visible from blocks away. The home is decorated by the Young Family in memory of their daughter and sister, Marie. Marie died in 2013 of an eating disorder. The family created the The Marie Ashton Young-Erturun Foundation, dedicated to helping teens and young adults suffering from eating disorders and other addictive behaviors.
Contributions may be made to The Marie Ashton Young-Erturun Foundation, 9 Sunnyvale Rd., Port Washington, NY, 11050. There is also a box in front of the house where donations may be made.
A sign in front of the home tells visitors, “Hug your children and tell them how much you love them every chance you have. Merry Christmas from the Young Family.”
