A masked gunman robbed a Westbury Babies “R” Us the morning of Dec. 21, handcuffing two employees before fleeing the scene.
According to Nassau County police, a 40-year-old female employee went to the front door of Babies “R” Us at 1350 Corporate Dr. at 5 a.m. to let another female coworker, 60 years old, inside. An unknown African American man, described as 5’8″-6′ tall and wearing a dark colored sweatshirt and dark pants, with a black ski mask covering his face, entered the door behind them, and displayed a black handgun.
The subject ordered the victims to the back office and tied up the hands of the 60-year-old employee with metal type costume handcuffs and had her lay on the floor. The 40-year-old victim was then forced to open the safe and put an undetermined amount of money inside a canvas bag. The subject then restrained the victim with the same type of handcuffs and forced her to lay on top of the other coworker. He then fled the scene in an unknown direction. There were no reported injuries.
The incident is just another in a string of commercial burglaries in the Westbury and Carle Place area.
