During the month of December, first-grade students at Cherry Lane School have been exploring the differences between wants and needs.
In an effort to tie the lessons in with the school’s character education goals for the month—“Kindness Makes the World a Happy Place”—students were asked to bring in $2 for teachers to purchase supplies that would create a care kit for the homeless. Students assisted the teachers in creating the packages of the small care items, which were donated to the Interfaith Nutrition Network in Hempstead.
