The Town of North Hempstead welcomed hundreds of local children and families to the first annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the “Yes We Can” Community Center on Dec. 21.
The program included a blessing from Bishop Lionel Harvey of the First Baptist Cathedral Church of Westbury, performances from the “Yes We Can” Community Band and chorus, a special visit from Santa Claus, courtesy of the Westbury Fire Department, as well as free hot chocolate and candy canes for the children. The eight foot tree will be lit in front of the center at 141 Garden St. until Jan. 8.
