North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio and the town board were proud to welcome local author, publisher and filmmaker Carl Weber to town hall on Tuesday, Dec. 15. They presented Weber with a proclamation honoring him for all of his success in the publishing world.

Weber, who graduated from Port Washington’s Schreiber High School, is considered one of the premier African American authors in the country. As president, CEO and publisher of Urban Books LLC, Weber has published more than 2,500 hundred books and written 22 novels, 14 of which have become New York Times bestsellers. Weber has also recently branched out into screenwriting and has written and produced three of his bestselling novels—The Man in 3B, The Preacher’s Son and The Choir Director—into independent films with his production company, Urban Books Media LLC. Jeffery Dumpson and Walter Nixon of Urban Books Media LLC joined Weber at the ceremony.
