Port Unicef Fundraiser A Success

UNicefThis past Halloween was one of Port Washington’s most successful years ever. Those familiar little orange Unicef boxes were filled to the brim. We are fortunate to have six participating elementary schools in Port that collectively are donating an impressive $4,872.68. This total includes nearly 49,000 heavy coins. For many years, the Port Washington Parents Council has been a major supporter of Unicef, the United Nations Children’s Fund, dedicated to the welfare of all children around the world. Port Washington continues to be among the leading fundraisers for Unicef in the country, and we have been one of the top three school districts on Long Island for many years.

This year, Unicef is continuing its vital programs around the world. Nourishing food and medical supplies are still in demand. Unicef is leading life and death efforts to protect children and families at grave risk.

Your generous contributions have helped children around the world with emergencies, nutrition, immunization, HIV/AIDS education and support, girls education and you have also helped to provide educational materials for their impoverished schools.

Port Washington elementary schools have been honored with Unicef presenting them with the U.S. Fund for Unicef Ambassador title. This prestigious title is reserved for only major Unicef contributors. Here is a list by school of our Unicef chairpersons and their collection helpers.
